CCEUS41 - Ethical And Legal Standards In Counseling. [Approved for 10 contact hours by The National Board For Certified Counselors  - Provider #5936] - [$50.00 -  NO OTHER COURSE FEES APPLY]The focus of the work in this course is to give a comprehensive overview or the ethical and legal standards and issues in the field of counseling.  This is accomplished through a combination of textbook readings, actual professional codes of ethics, legal guidelines and opinions, case studies, and counseling vignettes.  Textbook reading and internet sources are necessary to complete the work in the course.  Topics include understanding the foundations of ethical and legal considerations in counseling, The ACA Code Of Ethics and Standards Of Practice (including ethical use of the internet), client rights and informed consent, ethical considerations in multicultural counseling, confidentiality, competence, working with multiple clients, counseling minor clients, dual relationships, counseling suicidal clients, ethical issues in training and supervision,  and the relationship between law and ethics. Materials include a Course Description, Course Directions, Course Outcomes, Textbook Reference, Study Guide Questions, Vocabulary List, Supplementary Readings, and Related Links to guide the study of the material in the course.  A final examination with a score of 80% is required for successful completion of the course.
