To facilitate the role of the counselor in the schools, comprehensive school counseling programs have been established from K-12. The role of the school counselor has been institutionalized in this process; however, it has also been one that is evolving and changing. When the Internet appeared on the scene, counselors saw opportunities and room for come concerns about their future progress. Professional counselors are on the threshold of an information revolution that can only mean positive progress for the future in schools and the profession. The Internet can assist counselors in defining and advertising the role to all segments of the school constituency. It presents the opportunity to engage students who are rapidly adopting the Internet as the primary means of information gathering.
