Course Study Description
CCEUS04 - Counseling the College Bound Student [10 contact hours] - [$50.00 - NO OTHER COURSE FEES APPLY] Applying to college should be exciting, but often it becomes an anxiety-filled rituals for high school students and their parents. Students dread the inevitable questions about where they have been accepted, and parents face their own great expectations, nurtured since the child was born, about the perfect school. Decisions that lead up to a student's entering college are an important set of milestones for the young person and the parent alike. This course emphasizes the milestones along the pathway toward college and the college decision-making process itself. School counselors play an integral role in facilitating the transition from high school to college and the attendant anxieties of both the students and the parents. Strategies and procedures for the successful completion of the college entrance journey are outlined as well as a timeline for the student and counselor to follow. Resources for the college bound student are presented to raise the awareness of the school counselor of some of the new and technologically rich methods of accomplishing the college search, admission, and financial aid goals of the high school student of today.
